We worked together to implement and extend a post-purchase experience powered by the AfterSell plugin on Shopify. Our custom integration gave customers the ability to add suggested discounted items to their order immediately after checkout—boosting value without interrupting the customer checkout flow.
But integrating this into 5 Star’s existing systems wasn’t as simple as flipping a switch. The brand’s technology stack includes NewStore and NetSuite, which operate differently than Shopify when it comes to order management and timing. Bridging those differences required careful orchestration of order events and data flows, especially in a moment as time-sensitive as post-purchase.
Solving the System Gap
Shopify enables updates to an order after it’s placed; NewStore processes orders as finalized upon creation. Our team designed a solution that respected both platforms’ strengths, capturing order changes post checkout and ensuring clean, accurate downstream fulfillment.
The outcome was a harmonized flow where the customer’s final order—post-updates—was captured seamlessly and sent for fulfillment only once complete. No missed items. No fulfillment errors. Just a smarter, more valuable checkout experience.
